A recent episode of the BBC's hit reality show, The Apprentice featured the two teams in competition to push products of a choice of countries. The winning team, Team Stealth chose to base their campaign on Canadian products. While these are not products that would come to mind as readily as maple syrup and hardwood designs are, they do reflect products that are uniquely found while shopping Canada.

The three Canadian products featured on the segment, watched by an estimated 5 million viewers, included an insole suitable for a variety of footwear which is molded by the warmth of the foot. This allows the inserts to be placed even in new and stiff shoes or boots and have your feet feel just as comfortable as if the shoes were well broken-in.

Many people throughout the world, but particularly in the parts of the globe where there are short days and long nights, suffer from a condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. The second Canadian product which the Team Stealth used in their winning marketing plan is a portable, stylish yet compact light therapy device. The device is effective in fighting SAD as well as other sleeping disorders and jet lag as well, making it a wonderful gift for the traveler as well as those who don't get enough daylight.

The third item which was featured on the show is a stylish and easy to install area rug which can be placed in various configurations sizes and colors to make it fit almost any decor. The rug can also be quickly removed to that it can be cleaned with ease.

The confidence placed in Canadian products extends to many other countries, not the least of which is the United States. Obviously, many items produced in Canada are marketed for use by consumers in America and shipped to the United States continuously throughout the year.

Other products, which U.S. tourists find and purchase in Canada besides the expected supplies of maple syrup and maple wood products, include art and sculpture designs. In some areas of the country of Canada, there are clusters of artists, such as the many artisans who live and market their wares in the shopping districts of Montreal, Victoria, BC, and Quebec.

Because of the fluctuations of the U.S. dollar, there are even more shopping bargains available in Canada for U.S. tourists. Shopping for Canadian products is likely to become more common in other countries with the publicity affected by such shows as The Apprentice.
