National news reported in February 2009 that the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica, California, had switched from using chemicals to clean their hotel guest rooms to using?WATER! Disinfecting acidic water to be exact. The water is  electrolyzed with low-voltage electricity creating a powerful yet non-toxic cleaning agent. The ions are converted into sodium hydroxide, which becomes hypochlorous acid, a potent disinfectant known as acid water. It also cleans and degreases like detergent. This change created a $3,500 a month savings in cleaning chemicals for the hotel and an incalculable savings in their staffs health. Maids are enjoying working without fumes and peeling skin. "I didn't believe in it at first because it didn't have foam or any scent," said housekeeper Flor Corona. "But I can tell you it works. My rooms are clean."

Scientists say it is powerful enough to kill anthrax spores without harming people or the environment. "It's 10 times more effective than bleach in killing bacteria,?said Yen-Con Hung, a professor of food science at the University of Georgia-Griffin, who has been researching electrolyzed water for more than a decade. "And it's safe."

The news did not report however, that units able to produce acidic disinfecting water and another type of antioxidant drinking water have been in use in Asia for nearly four decades. This is great news for chemically sensitive people or people concerned with their health. These water machines called, water ionizers in the USA, hook up to your kitchen tap.
