However, some manufacturers have different instructions on how to use their programs. A user should know if there are any such instructions and follow them.

Another benefit of defragging the computer regularly is to save on the time that the program uses to actually defrag. The more work the program has to do, the longer time it will take. It is also advisable not to be connected on the internet while the defragging process is underway. To avoid continual restarting of the process, no other programs should be running while it is defragging.
