Just think, no more shagging baseballs. All the balls you hit stay within the confined area of the batting cage. Plus you don't have to worry about a stray ball flying over the fence or backstop and breaking someone's windshield.
But how do you choose the right batting cage for you? Consider the following:
1.Batting cages should be selected just like one was picking out a baseball bat. A small bat will require a small batting cage. A larger bat will require a larger batting cage to more replicate the distance between pitcher and batter.
2.Find out what the batting cage is constructed of. PVC pipe and cotton netting will not last more than a couple of years. Aluminum piping and nylon netting will last for years to come.
3.The nets should be fixed in a way to allow the batter an unrestricted feeling. Nets that are tightly enclosed may cause the batter challenges when batting in an open area.
4.If you rent or will rent a batting cage on a regular basis, it might make better sense to buy one instead.
Choosing the right batting cage will greatly enhance your batting average. But make sure the benefits outweigh the costs. If you do decide to purchase a batting cage, see about charging others to use it. This might offset your costs.
