Ki Monastery (at 4116m), over 1000 years old, is a repository of Buddhist art and literature. This is where the Dalai Lama held the first Kalchakra of the new millennium (in Ki's own millennium year).

Time has forgotten to melt out of its meditative state in the mystical land of Kinners, the ?fairies? who lie halfway between humans and gods, and the sensorial Spiti Valley? Probably the reason why the upright honesty, sacred values and religious beliefs of the people here are nowhere near

those of ordinary mortals.

The air remains spiritually energized through this journey, alive with the tranquil coexistence of Hinduism and Budhism. This is a world within a world, an unordinary space, a land fit for the gods themselves.

Icicles hang precariously along the road to Kibber- the world's highest village with a motorable road and electricity at an altitude of over 4200m; local women cover long distances on foot in the absence of an inadequate transport system; Chitkul, the last village before the Indo-Tibet border, sits pretty at a height of 3450m;
