The Burton Global Open Series ("BGOS") has a cumulative prize purse of over $900,000. The prime male and female rider with the most points will be crowned Global Open Champion at the US Open at Stratton, Vermont. Note that equal prize money is available to men and women equally .

There are also many other smaller division competitions taking place at slopes across the nation. Backcountry snowboarding as well as terrain parks are popular snowboarding destinations. The Terrain Parks are areas special set aside for snowboarders where they can practice their moves away from the skiers.
