This is quite a unique idea. I'm going to jump outside the track a bit and talk about offline marketing and promotion.
So, let's assume you have written quite a few of articles. You are doing fine online. You've built your list and they're quite responsive. However, you want to combine offline marketing to reach your existing prospects through the media beyond emails.
Perhaps a post card or a complete direct mail package later when you have their physical address or contact information. Yes, currently that is the only obstacle to reaching them offline.
What could you do?
You can come up with a tool, what I refer to as an ethical bribe, to practically "force" your list to give their physical address if they want to receive it. Instead of doing this from scratch, why not just leverage what you already have?
Here's how you could do it. Take one or more of our existing articles. Expand the content, include research data, format it in a way that is interesting and eye-catching. This article should highlight the core issue your business tries to solve. Think of it as a work to explain why your business exist, but focus on the benefits for the customers or clients.
Get another article or use the core issue article and make a 45- to 60-minute teleseminar or recording just about this topic. Burn the recording into a CD. Package it with the article and suddenly you have an interesting package to offer as ethical bribe.
Start telling your list about it and ask for their physical address so you can send them the package. What's next is up to your follow-up strategy.
Every once in a while, you can send your best articles in print to your best clients to build relationship and keep in touch with them.
Can it be easier? Leverage is a big idea for any business, and you should take advantage of it too.
