Indian legal process outsourcing (LPO) firms such as Kochhar & Co have already entered into Japan, which houses some big Fortune 500 companies.
Kochhar & Co has established a representative office in Tokyo and is expecting a significant business in the next 3-4 years from the Japanese market.
?In wake of the Japanese economy slipping into recession due to the global financial meltdown, General Counsels of large corporations, including several Fortune 500 companies are under increased pressure to trim their legal budgets,? Kochhar LexServe Managing Director Manish Vig said.
After a slowdown in the US economy, the Indian LPOs are occupied with influx of legal works. The legal firms are expecting the same from the Japanese market.
Kochhar LexServe, a part of Kochhar & Co, is exploring in Japan how in-house legal departments of large Japanese corporations and law firms could benefit by off-shoring legal services to India.
Consenting to it, Khaitan & Co's Rabindra Jhunjhunwala said that the next wave of work would come from Japan and South Korea.
