Every parent understands the importance of Christmas morning in a child's life. It's the goal of most moms and dads to help St. Nick make the day as perfect as they can. The joy a child expresses at finding the mound of toys and goodies left under the tree by Santa Claus is something that makes every parent smile. Every Christmas is the same, for most parents-they want it to be perfect, for their kids.
As children grow and families evolve, so do the ways that they settle in, to their own unique methods of celebrating, on Christmas morning. But, no matter how a family's Christmas habits adapt, through the years, the memories of those first few Christmas mornings as a family are treasures that everyone wants to retain.
Recording Christmas is a great way to keep family memories from fading, over the years. Today, there are so many different kinds of electronic recording media available, most of which is simple to operate. Just about any family member can be the Christmas cinematographer or sound engineer, and preserve the joyful times of the season for years to come.
Most families have some sort of video-recording camera or device. These cameras, today, require almost no skill or effort to run, and can easily be set up, out of the way, in a place that can record a family's entire Christmas morning at the tree. DVD's or mini-tapes are easy to store, and easy to edit, later, into special Christmas videos.
Some families prefer photos to videos. A wonderful heirloom that the family can create together is a collection of photo albums, each made from a single Christmas morning. If one family member takes notes, which can then be added, once the pictures are printed, then the memories will be even stronger and clearer, in later years. It's even more fun, if everyone agrees, ahead of time, that no picture can be deleted or declared unusable. A photo that might seem embarrassing today will probably seem hilarious in a few years.
However a family chooses to record its Christmas morning, they can be sure that, years from now, they'll be glad that they did record it. Seeing the record of a family's growth and evolution is a wonderful way to reminisce, later, at family gatherings. And the generations that follow will be grateful to have the opportunity to see the kind of joy that brought about their own families.
