Science fiction has developed up the estimate of artificial intelligence for years. Having machines intelligence often writes the end of humanity as they then rise up against their creators and violently free themselves from oppression. The Turing Test is a assess of False Intelligence that was created by Alan Turing. He stated that the question of whether or not machines could think was too vague, and purported a test that was more proper. His test, without going into too much detail, required trying to get a computer to fool people into considering that it was human. The people would type a doubt into a console and get a reply from the computer on the other side. While there has been much work done on systems trying to pass the Turing test, none of them have succeeded yet. There has also been enquiry done into creating machines that can display emotions. However, we're still a long way off from experiencing a machine that can look to be alert.

The early excitement over AI led to developers trying to create a universal reasoning problem solver that could search through a mass of knowledge that it has developed and find solutions to any problem that was thrown at it. Unfortunately this proved almost unattainable in practice. Today's AI tends to focus on very proper problems and knowledge areas. Expert Systems are programs that are "Experts" in a specific field and can answer queries linked to only that field. Their applications include medical diagnosis, credit card application, and other fields where data is to be dissected.
