With the growing sales of over 3.2 million Wiis sold, the Wii phenomonom increases. Can you become addicted to Wii?. Many will say it is not possible to be physically addicted to Wii, however the trends may show a different side. So how do you know if you're addicted?
There are many factors that will hint to an addiction. Although it may not due to an imbalance in the brain, it does have its symptoms.
Lets say you go to the store to pick a up few things, the next thing you know you are driving your car through the parking lot like you are in a Mario Brothers cart. When the police pull you over the only excuse you have is that you just hit your high score.
During dinner you pick up your knife and try to sleigh the dragon overhead. Or you jump off your cough and complete a back flip because you think you are on skis. Another symptom might be that you actually get trigger finger and you need to see a doctor. Which leads to surgery to release it! Not so good.
How about when you go bowling and you score more than a 250, the bad thing is this your first time ever actually bowling at a realy bowling alley. Or even worse you can't bowl at all because you dont have a remote in your hand.
Other symptoms may include insomnia, loss of appetite and reclusive ness, and an overall withdrawal from society. You then realize you havent left the house in a week. Of course these are the extremes! How do your symptoms present?
All of these symptoms are the signs of a true gamer. Is that an addiction? In my opinion it is the sign of a new trend that incorporates a new type of gamer that includes family, friends and individuals alike. The outcome is family and friend bonds, an increase in fitness and enjoyment. This cannot be all bad. Ride the wave of the Wii and enjoy.
