Cleaning With Baking Soda
Markus Skupeika
There are all sorts of organic cleaning products that are currently being used for various purposes. There's vinegar – effective on removing stains, lemon – which acts as a really good deodorizer, washing soda and all sorts of other stuff. And the best thing about these products, aside from the fact that they are amazingly affordable is that they also serve various cleaning purposes. And that is enough reason for me to make a complete switch to organic cleaning products.
But have you ever wondered what organic cleaning product is the best if not the most popular? Which one is of greatest use? While I do not have the statistics to show, I think it would be safe to say that baking soda would be at least on top three on the list of the most effective and amazing organic cleaning product ever to have graced the earth.
Baking soda, if you do your research well, is a great organic cleaning product by itself. As a stand-alone, it can do so many things you never even thought possible. One of these purposes is what it has named itself for – baking. Baking soda is used in cooking, or more specifically in baking where it reacts with certain chemicals that allow dough to rise. Aside from this, you can also use baking soda to put out the start of a fire by scattering the powder over the flame. Neat, huh? You can use it for fires with various causes, including clothes, wood, fuel, rugs and other upholstery, as it won't do any damage to anything. You can also use it to whiten your teeth by rubbing a small amount of it to your teeth after brushing.
Baking soda is a good organic cleaning product for laundry as it helps in taking out stubborn stains in clothes. It can also be used to clean certain types of containers and dishes. Just dab a small amount of it on the things you wish to be spotless clean. It specifically works really well with plastic items.
Mixed with water, baking soda makes for an excellent cleaning solution. You can use this solution to clean practically everything in your household that needs to be cleaned. You can use it on furniture (wooden or marble-topped), you can wash stainless steel or glass coffee pots with it, remove burnt food on pans, shine up chrome and steel, clean porcelain, plastic and glass and all sorts of other stuff.
Baking soda is also a great deodorizer. You can freshen up the smelliest area in your house with baking soda. You can keep your refrigerator and your freezer smelling fresh and clean by butting baking soda in an open container. Baking soda will do wonders for you by absorbing all the nasty odors you wish to stay away from your fridge. Just make sure you stir the baking soda once in a while and replace it with a fresh batch every two months. Baking soda can also be used to absorb odors from kitty litters and to reduce the build-up of odors in your dishwasher.
There are just so many things that baking soda can do. All the things listed here are not even half of it! With the many purposes of baking soda and along with all other organic cleaning products, don't you think it's high time for you to do the switch?
