Rehab Today
There are so many bits of information about alcohol that it becomes confusing for other people to determine which ones are true and which ones are simply myths. It takes a lot of research before you can fully trust what you know about alcohol. But to make things easy for you, here the alcohol myths are demystified.
?Myth: Alcohol, even in moderation, has negative effects on the brain cells. Fact: Moderate drinking of alcohol will not destroy the brain cells, in fact, it aids in cognitive functions of the mind.
?Myth: Drinking beer causes bulges in the tummy. Fact: What causes the so-called ?beer belly? is too much food. Moderate amount of alcohol shows no significant contribution in weight gain according to studies.
?Myth: Women can drink the same amount of alcohol as men as long as they have the same height and weight. Fact: The female body differs from the male body. So even if the two has similar weight and height, the way the body deal with the alcohol is different. Women have lesser ?dehydrogenase?, the enzyme that metabolises alcohol.
?Myth: Drinking alcohol is just a habit not an addiction. Fact: Alcohol drinking starts as a habit but ends up being an addiction. The person loses control of his alcohol intake and it becomes very hard for him to quit alcohol drinking.
?Myth: There is no cure to alcohol addiction. Fact: There is a cure and there will always be hope for alcoholics. There are in fact several alcohol addiction rehabilitation centres that alcoholics can visit to get the help they need. There are various forms of alcohol addiction therapies that cater to the varying needs of alcoholics.
?Myth: Those who don't drink alcohol are basically alcohol-free. Fact: The body has natural alcohol. So there is no one who is alcohol-free. But there are those who are free from bad alcohol.
?Myth: People who don't get intoxicated have strong body resistance. Fact: People who can drink high amounts of alcohol without getting intoxicated have become tolerant for alcohol. This is a sign that the person may have become dependent or addicted to alcohol.
?Myth: Alcohol is the root cause of alcohol addiction. Fact: The root cause of alcohol addiction is the individual's decision and drinking habit. There are those who drink alcohol but do not end up to alcohol addiction.
These facts will help people think again about alcohol drinking. Some of those you believe in may simply just a myth. So it is best to research about it and ask authorities on the subject.
