3 Ways To Make Your Workout Feel Less Like Work

Is the workout you used to love starting to feel a little mundane? Here are some quick workout fixes to add some zip to your fitness activities.
1.Grab a partner or two-or three! Having someone to workout with can not only make working out more enjoyable, but also increase the likelihood you will workout. Had a workout partner in the past, but fell off track when he or she went on vacation? Or maybe have trouble getting schedules to work out?
There's a simple solution-invite multiple people to join you. Share a walk at lunch with a co-worker, a weekly run with a neighbor, a lifting session with a friend and a weekend hike with your spouse.
Besides it being more fun, this is a great way to increase your stick-to-it-ness...plus catch up on the latest "community news." ; )
2.Try something new. If you have been doing the same walking route or same aerobic exercise class, it's time to mix it up. Even though you enjoy it, you risk boredom by doing the same thing every day, and there's also a chance that you're working certain sets of muscles-while leaving other ones not as strong.
So, it's best to add some new fitness activities to your routine. If there is a sport you have always wanted to try, find out if there are lessons you could take to learn how.
The great thing is that you will not only be making your workouts more fun, but you will also be challenging your body in new ways, which speeds up results and prevents workout plateaus.
3.Eye on a prize. Having something to work for always makes preparing for it more fun. For the best example of this think back to your days as a kid. Remember that time when you were preparing for the school play or the big game? Rehearsals and practices didn't seem that bad because you were working up to that main event.
The same goes for your workouts now. If you go day in and day out just doing a standard workout just to get it in, boredom and fatigue may start to kick in. But, if you continue to set goals like preparing for a race or making it to the top of a local mountain, the preparation becomes more focused and fun.
Often people pick goals like "lose weight" or "cut body fat." But, those goals aren't as tangible and by preparing for and completing an event or milestone, such as miles walked per day your goals will naturally materialize.
Remember, "workouts" don't have to be all "work." By sharing time with friends and family, taking a chance on a new activity and working towards a specific goal, you can put a good dose of fun into the time you dedicate to being fit.
