A fracture is commonly referred to as a broken bone. The bones of the shape of the human body, or skeleton, which supports and protects the soft parts of the body. The bones are living tissue. Bone marrow cells that had developed in red blood cells which carry oxygen to all parts of the body and the white blood cells that help fight disease. Bones also contain minerals calcium and phosphorus. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open fracture or. Fractures occur frequently due to car accidents, falls and sports injuries. Another issue is osteoporosis, which causes a weakening of the bones.

First aid for fractures includes stabilizing the break with a splint in order to prevent movement of the injured part.
