The oil is obtained by steam distillation of the wood of the tree Brachyleana Hutchinsii.
The tree grows in Kenya and Uganda.
It has a balsamic ,woody, sweet, floral, vetiver and sandalwood type notes.
It is used upto 4% in perfume formulations.
It blends well with Vetiver oil,Gurjun balsam oil,Vanilla absolute and Patchouli oil.
It is used in aldehydic,amber,chypre ,moss, oriental ,sandalwood and woody fragrances.
The oil is reported to have the chemical entities like
Alpha-yalgene,
Alpha-copaene,
Alpha and Gamma-amorphene,
Alpha-murrolene,
Delta-cadinene,
Calamenene,
Alpha-calacorene,
Brachyl oxide,
Ylangenal,
Cubebol,
Copaenal,etc.
