It started out as an add-on to a graduate's website which was only intended to sell collector's items. It is now globally renowned as the place to buy and sell anything. The are many advantages of using eBay, the global marketplace, cheaper goods and the fact that something that is not on demand on one side of the planet could be on another part of the globe.

It is possible to purchase products at a low price and sell them on at a higher price. For example, a lot of people do not realize that if you list a product with an ending time that falls during the day on a week day when people are working, it is likely to bring less bids and therefore sell for a lower price.
