Surgery And Non Medicinal Options For Hemorrhoids
Nowheet Owl
As you might known from the past Internal Hemorrhoid Treatment Reviewed series, that hemorrhoids is a terrible disease to have. Alas, there are times where natural cure can not help. Now this is the time to see what other non-medicinal treatment options available to you and to know how the doctor conduct the treatments First of all, we have to establish the severity of the hemorrhoids. Banov grading system is as follows:
Grade I: The hemorrhoids do not prolapse. So there's nothing outside the rectum area and since there's no pain, most people does not notice they have hemorrhoids.
Grade II: The hemorrhoids prolapse upon defecation but spontaneously reduce. This is also commonly goes unnoticed, except for people paying attention to details.
Grade III: The hemorrhoids prolapse upon defecation, but must be manually reduced. Which is commonly the time you start noticing there's something wrong with your behind.
Grade IV: The hemorrhoids are prolapsed and cannot be manually reduced. The worst possible stage of hemorrhoids.
I'm not saying that at Grade IV natural cures and medicine does not help. They still help, but the aggravation of the hemorrhoids because of their prolapsed state may cause the healing to go longer. Also there will be some considerable pain in the prolapsed area from daily activities. So what are the non medicinal options? Options that are available are:
Rubber band ligation (non-medicinal) This is done by using elastic bands tied onto an internal hemorrhoid that prolapsed to cut off its blood supply. This will cause the hemorrhoids to wither because there's no blood feeding it and can be disposed of in a normal bowel movement.
Hemorrhoidolysis (non-medicinal) Essentially means that they cut the prolapsed area using electricity.
Sclerotherapy (non-medicinal) Or Injection Therapy. A hardening agent is injected to the prolapsed are. In time this will cause the hemorrhoids to shrivel up.
Cryosurgery (surgery) Not recommended. Many side effects.
Laser, infrared or BICAP coagulation (non-medicinal) It's like Hemorrhoidolysis, but the burn the prolapsed area with laser or infrared. It's the most available procedure in the US.
Hemorrhoidectomy (surgery) A difficult word. It means that the prolapsed area is removed via surgery. A real one, with anaesthetics and all. The recovery time is longer and difficult like recovering from a surgery. (Okay, that should be obvious)
Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy (surgery) Okay, as it's name, stapled, this procedure is designed to disrupt blood flow to the hemorrhoids. Unlike what its name suggest, the procedure is generally less painful than surgery and the recovery time is faster.
This is just some of the procedures. There are more new and advanced procedures dealing with hemorrhoids. I will cover that in the next article.
