I still love to read and we have literally stacks of books in our house, but nowadays I prefer audiobooks that I can download straight off my computer. The main reason I prefer audiobooks to paper ones, apart from the fact that books are taking all the available space at home, is that I can listen to them whilst doing mundane jobs around the house or whilst traveling to and from work.

I first started listening to books on audio a few years ago when I was traveling to sales meetings and I would listen to motivational tapes to fire me up for my sales presentation. They worked really well, then whilst traveling home I would listen to one of my favorite novels to help me unwind after the day.

I've never been one for subscribing to monthly book clubs in order to listen to my favorite audio book, preferring instead to buy just what I need from 'Very Best Audio Books'. Their service is superb although with thousands of titles their website can be a little difficult to manage until you get used to finding your way around.

The strange thing is that I have listened to some audio books that I would never have read as a book, and also, I am loath to listen to a book that I have previously read and enjoyed. With audio the reading, that is the narration, of the book can make or break your listening pleasure, although it is very rare to find one that is spoiled by the actual reading of it. Audio recordings nowadays are very professionally done with experienced and often quite well known actors reading the storyline.

Audio books are excellent for delivering a wide variety of interesting content for people to listen to perhaps when they are not able to devote there full attention to reading. Listening to audio books also provides a way for adults, and children, to soak up hours of entertainment as well as large doses of education, usually without even realizing it.

Regardless of what your reading preferences are you can find a huge assortment of titles to choose from on the internet today. Just about any topic that you can find in printed form can also be found as downloadable audio. That is why I love audiobooks.
