Celtic Symbol For Love
Jenn Jamie
Showing your enduring love for someone can be tough to convey. Sometimes, we need to give them something to remember you by, especially when times get tough, and you have to be away from your partner for quite some time. Alternatively, if you are ready to pop the question but unsure of how to perfectly embody what you feel for your partner on your wedding day, then the best way to symbolize how you feel for them throughout your relationship is through Celtic wedding bands such as the Claddagh wedding bands. These bands are popular ways of expressing your feelings for you partner on your big wedding day.
What Claddagh Wedding Bands Symbolize
Claddagh wedding bands symbolize all of the things that you and your partner have gone through in your relationship. The Claddagh ring is made up of three distinct symbols that epitomize a couple's history together. It is made up of a crown that sits on top of a heart with the heart held by two hands on both sides. The crown is said to represent loyalty, the heart represents love, and the two hands represent friendship. These Celtic wedding bands are said to entail that love and friendship reigns above everything.
Claddagh wedding bands also represent the many stages of a relationship. The first stage is that of friendship. Once they have decided to become serious with each other, they become intimately attached and eventually it leads to the second stage of the relationship, which is engagement. The third stage as represented by the Claddagh ring is that of marriage. These three stages are represented in the Celtic wedding bands and is a great reminder for couples about the many stages they have gone through.
A Little Bit of History
The Claddagh wedding bands of course, did not come into being without any great story behind it. Although there are many legends surrounding this wedding band, there is one story that is most probable, the story of Richard Joyce. Richard Joyce was said to be a native of a little town in Ireland called Galway. He left his hometown to work in the West Indies. However, by some unfortunate instance, he was taken as a slave and was sold to a Moorish goldsmith. Under the care of his master, he learned the trade of creating jewelry and became a known artisan because of his great skill. He impressed his master so much that his master offered to give his own daughter in marriage. He, however, declined his master's gracious offer. He was able to go back to his little town when the king of England demanded that all British prisoners were to be freed. Once he was there, he immediately searched for his one true love and was ecstatic to find out that she has remained faithful to him throughout his 14-year absence. He then gave her his present, a ring that he created while he was away. This ring is we now know today as the Claddagh ring.
Therefore, if you want to symbolize a love that has endured through thick and thin, then get your own Claddagh wedding bands at Irish Indeed! They have the best Celtic wedding bands you can find online.
