Poking Around The Poker Table
Victor Epand
A multitude of poker games await you on the Internet. Some are for fun and some are actually betting money. That's real money folks, not play money. So if you must gamble, do it with play money, you just might be better off in the log run.I have read stories all over the internet about people losing all they had and more. This just goes to show you, some people are very addicted to games even if they are on the losing side!
Governor Poker is an entertaining game in which you must win every house in the town of San Saba. You get to type in the name you want to be called and decide whether you want to be a man or a lady. When you are ready to play, you have to left click on the yellow circle that is spinning next to the saloon.
You then enter into Bob's Saloon Tournament. There is a table of player waiting for you. You see what the top prizes are and then join the table to play. The dealer deals two cards to every player. Your cards are face up so that you can see how you should bet and whether you want a hit (another card) or not. The dealer then throws three more cards out on the table face up. You then have to decide whether you will continue to play or not. It all hangs on the fact that either you have a good hand or a bad one. This is a good way to get introduced into the game of poker. If you are a constant winner, then you will win all of the houses and stores in the town, thereby winning the game.
Texas Hold 'em is probably the best known and most popular form of poker played today. In Texas Hold 'em, each player starts with two hole cards (cards that only the player can see). There are three rounds of community cards (cards that everyone will use). These are dealt face up, for every player to use, with betting after each round. The best 5-card hand using any combination of the five cards that everyone can use (community cards) and two hole cards (private cards that only the person playing knows) wins.
The three community cards are dealt out in a sequence. The first three cards are called the flop. After these are dealt, then everyone must bet or choose to fold. The dealer then puts out the fourth community card or "the turn". After this card has been dealt, there is another round of betting or again you may choose to fold if you think the cards being dealt are not to your advantage. The dealer then puts out the fifth community card called "the river". There is a final round of betting. After this round the computer will choose the winner, by pointing out who has the best hand,
Omaha High is another game that closely relates to Texas Hold 'em with one major difference. This time the dealer deals each player four hole cards in the hole instead of the two. At showdown, the best five-card hand using exactly two of your hole cards and three cards from the board wins.
Stud Hi (also called Seven-Card stud), was what everyone played until Texas Hold 'em came out. Those games would usually last all through the night. Many a fellow lost their entire fortune at this game. This game is part skill, part memory and, part strategy. It is a card game of great skill and luck. If the cards are not going your way, it is better to just leave and play some other time. In fact the famous 6666 Ranch was won in a game of poker. That is why they still call it the Four Sixes Ranch!
Each player starts with two cards in the hole and one up that everyone sees. The dealer then deals three more rounds of upcards (cards that everyone can see), with betting after each card. Then finally come the last card called the final downcard. The last round of betting takes place after this card is dealt. Each player ends up with seven cards: four cards face up and three face The player holding the best hand using any five of their cards wins the pot (all the money in the middle that everyone has bet). Played the same as Texas Hold 'em, aces play both high (the highest card in the deck, the King) and low (an Ace).
If gambling is in your blood, please enjoy yourself-but make sure the money is virtual only just in case Lady Luck isn't in the house the night you choose to play.
