In the IT era we are currently living in, the problems faced by its professionals has not gone unnoticed. Irrespective of what your age is, you are either on the verge or already facing some kind of problems related to health. In pursuit of fast paced growth and quick money, IT workers are indeed exposed to risks that can be quite serious, if left unattended for a long time, therefore regular checkups should be performed.
More often than not, workers tend to put ten hours of workdays before a computer, glaring at its screen. Rest of time is either spent in cafeteria's or conference halls attending to a busy meeting. So, no wonder then that they hardly find time to exercise or even just relax their body. Eating habits of IT pros tend to vary depending upon their irregular schedules. Over exposure to modern gadgets like Laptops, BlackBerry's too does'nt help either.
Let's go through few problems that are more common across stressed IT professionals. Here they go:
Posture:-While spending long working hours in front of a computer, maintaining a right posture is very important. Sitting on your chair with your back fully perpendicular to the floor is the right option to follow. Adjust your neck postion to a level were your monitor's screen is right infront of you. Ensure that you take a break after every half hour. Poor posture coupled with losing bone density and its flexibility, is an open invitation to a host of problems like rotator cuff disease and shoulder problems to name few.
Mental health:-IT workers are often vulnerable to extreme stress, thanks to packed work schedules. Working ten hours a day, commiting to mobiles or BlackBerry's round the clock leads to overstimulation for the brain. During stress, brain releases adrenalin to boost your senses and provide strength. While occasional stress is acceptable, chronic stress are highly undesirable. These stresses can easily expose you to heart diseases, exhaustion, depression and so on.
Heart:-Among common problems faced IT pros are those related to heart. Nearly one-third of Americans are facing some form of disease that are related to cardiovascular functions. Individual behaviors like smoking, lack of exercise, bad eating habits are often the main reasons behind heart ailments.
Legs:-Lack of exercise due to over exposure behind a desk, can lead to loss of muscle mass in the leg. This invariably decreases the body's ability to put off weight.
