Well, I never imagined myself to be in this position. I'm a widow and I don't want to spend my life as one. I eventually want to share my life with someone so here I am on the internet dating scene. Personally, I never imagined I would be in such a position. My husband's death was quite unexpected and at 39 years of age with a 10 year-old son, well, dating is the furthest thing from my mind. True is, I'm not ready just yet, but I know eventually I will be and the internet will be one of the first places I will start to look. It's not so much as it's the cool thing to do but for the fact that its far more realistic. I'm practically glued to my computer and I'm on the internet all the time, so it's a logical move.

I've checked out lots of internet dating sites, some with fees others not (personally I don't agree with having to pay someone to find you a date!), but they all have one thing in common - there are millions of people out there! It's really quite shocking to realize how many of us are looking for someone. I wonder how many hours does the average single person spend surfing internet dating sites a week?

It just scares the heck out of me. It all seems so vast with hundreds of faces and profiles that you can potentially go through in one day. It's easy to get overwhelmed and some days I think I just feel very disheartened about it all. How is one to decide if someone is right for them - over the internet!

Yet you hear of success stories all the time, so I know it's not a hopeless case. There are many stories of internet dating hook-ups that went well and where relationships still continue to flourish. I'm glad to hear it because we all too often hear about the bad stories or the ones that ended in disaster.

I'm a big follower of using my intuition and trusting my gut about things. I know for certain that when I look at a profile, I'll get a gut reaction as to whether I like them or not. It seems rather dismissive to judge so early but I know from many past experiences of not trusting my gut how it's gotten me into big trouble and I've regretted it in the past. So for me, if and when the time comes, I'll know if he's the right one for me or not by trusting my gut and taking it one day at a time. If it's meant to happen, it will.
