How A Flood Destroyed The Town And Water Damage Restoration Saved It!
Gayelord Nash
The water damage was everywhere. It spanned as far as the eye could see. No one would ever forget what happened. How could they? It started out like any other week. Everyone was up and getting the kids ready for school. Breakfast was being made and people were getting ready for work. Meanwhile, businesses were opening up and the traffic was moving smoothly. No one expected that in less than 3 days, the city would be covered in water.
The rain came down fast and strong. It felt like pellets beating on you. At first everyone was thankful for the rain. It had been so dry and they prayed for rain. Crops had been going bad due to the lack of rain. The land was thirsting for some moisture. At first the land soaked up the rain like a sponge. Drop by drop it was sucked up. After about a day, the water started holding on the ground and building up. The rivers began to rise, a little at first, then faster and faster.
Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before the levees broke. Flood damage was going to be evident shortly. Families ran to gather what they could - family heirlooms, pictures, medications; any clothes they could gather. Time was not on their side; the flood was moving quickly. The flood damage was already apparent. The streets were already lined with water. Where cars once stood, boats now lined the street to get people through.
How could so much water damage damage happen in just a short amount of time? This was a question everyone was asking. Sadly, there wasn't an answer. Nature was simply taking its course and the town was in its path. The residents were packed like lab rats in a cage trying to break free. Panic set in the minds of the townspeople. This made the evacuation even more difficult then it already was. Bushes were covered. Dog houses could no longer be seen. A few residents hadn't heeded the warning and were left stranded on the second floor of their homes. They now had to wait for someone to come and get them. Many could not swim or else had a fear of the water. Their pets had either run free earlier before the waters has risen or they were sitting by patiently with their owners waiting for rescuers to come. Residents wondered how much longer the water would continue to spill over. Would there even be a town to return to or would the flood damage wipe them off the map? So much had been lost already but at least so far there were no casualties in Mother Nature's cruel joke.
There were water damage restoration experts arriving in from all across the United States to lend a helping hand. People were wondering what they would do. No one knew but at least they were here to help. Right now any assistance was better than no assistance. No one had to tell the residents that their town was damaged by one of nature's most destructive forces, water. Homes were lost, animals killed, and life would never be the same again. The words water damage and soon, water damage restoration, would ring forever in their minds and in their hearts.
Years later the residents still were healing from the flood and water damage. Some have not returned to the town. They felt one time was enough for them. They didn't want to invest in their future again only to have it all torn apart in a matter of days. Life was normal but the fear would always be there.
