What Is A Colema Board?
Paul Fitzgerald
It may sound surprising but there are actually a lot of people who include colonic irrigation as a part of their health routine. Since ancient times, colon cleansing has been a commonly accepted health practice. Although there has been a point in time when Americans abandoned such treatment, eventually it regained its popularity. In fact, there are even a number of physicians who acknowledge the health benefits of colon cleansing. Colon hydrotherapy or colonic irrigation is considered a naturopathic cleansing and healing treatment for it basically uses sterilized water to flush out lingering toxins in the colon.
An individual may opt to have a certified colon hydrotherapist to perform the cleansing procedure or he may opt to buy a home colonic kit. One essential component of a home colonic kit is the colema board. It is a rectangular panel with a hole and splashield at one end. This side of the board is placed on the toilet while the other end is supported by a chair or platform to prevent the board from toppling over. The board allows the individual having a colema to lie comfortably during the entire session which may usually take around 30 to 60 minutes.
A 5 gallon bucket and tubing comes with the kit. Since water is allowed to flow into the colon solely through gravity, the bucket must be positioned higher than the colonic board, perhaps be placed on the water tank of the toilet or on the bathroom counter. Sterilized or purified water must be used for this procedure. Then, one end of the tubing must then be placed on the bucket while the opposite end is inserted into the rectum of the individual lying on the colonic board. And once the tubing is inserted about 2-3 inches into the rectum, it is left there during the entire session. There is no need to remove the tubing when evacuating since water and waste can easily be released around the tip. Each session requires that the entire 5 gallon of water be used. The process actually involves several repetitions of the water going in and the expulsion of the water and waste.
However, for those who would rather have a trained colonic hydrotherapist administer their colonics, there are many licensed colon hydrotherapy clinics and spas everywhere. These clinics and spas may use colonic machines to inject water into the colon as well as extract the water and the wastes from the body. The procedures may sometimes vary depending on the machine used since there are actually two kinds of colonic machines: the Open System and the Closed System.
Professional colonics may prove to be more costly than home colonics but professional colonics provide better results than self-administered colonics.
