When it rains you can have water flooding your yards, streets, and it can get in your homes. You can even get a flood of water when you have snow and it melts. Floods just don't happen in one area. It happens everywhere and in many areas. It can be a little bit of water that is only a few inches, or it can be a very big one and can take your home in a matter of minutes. Floods can take your town in one foul swoop, and it can injure and kill people if they get caught in it. The smallest floods can make your yard get really soft to where it is ruined and to where it won't be able to grow grass and a garden if you wanted to. It can take your homes and everything you have in your home and your cars. Some people have seen their homes taken by the water.

Floods are very dangerous and they can do some serious damage depending on the severity of flooding. That's why we have the news - to tell us if there is a flood coming. Did you know that when we have floods, it sinks more and more of our states in the water? You have to have homeowner's insurance that covers floods so it can take care of it after your house has been in a flood and so you can get the damage cleaned up. Floods can make a big river of water go right through your town and tear down buildings and homes, and it can take the ground right out from under your home and tear it to shreds. I'm not talking about little pieces of dirt. I'm talking about big chunks all at once that take more and more with every passing minute and won't stop until the water recedes.

We really don't know how bad it can be until it happens. We just know when one is coming. When a big one is coming, people are asked to get out of the area so no one gets hurt, but sometimes it comes too fast and they can't get out in time. Sometimes people get stuck in their car right in the middle of it and others try to get them out before it is taken or sinks under the water. A lot of people have died and some of them were injured.
