If you work on your computer as much as I do you will appreciate this story. My laptop was purchased the end of January of this year, and I'm a freelance writer. So needless to say I'm on my computer often. It's my livelihood and I need it to be working without any hassles. So when I bought my laptop knowing how much I would use my computer and that I needed it to stay in working condition, I bought the two year extended warranty. It was only an additional $150 dollars on top of the total coast. I was using my tax refund money, so cost really wasn't a question, it was just something I felt I should get, and I felt compelled to protect my investment a longer time.
So only four months later after working on my laptop for hours upon hours it crashed and wouldn't boot up. One of my big problems was the fact that I didn't have up to date virus protection. Yes I felt everyone out there cringe at that statement. I don't know why I hadn't kept it up to date, but I ran about a month with no anti-virus on my computer. Then I downloaded a free trial to hope it would clean up my computer. But I don't know if it worked very well, because I was still having a few problems with my computer. You know like sluggishness in my computer, some programs shutting down by themselves. Just overall I could tell the performance was nowhere close to normal. Yeah probably some I had let get in when I had no coverage. Or even spyware I wasn't very sure, but I hoped my free anti-virus software would help. Then the day when my worst dreams came true, I tried to log on and nothing happened. I'm not the most patient person in the world both so I kept hitting keys and finally I succeeded in locking up the keyboard. I had no choice but to take it in to be fixed.
Thank goodness that I had bought that extended warranty. It saved me a tremendous amount of money. I still am waiting to get my laptop back; it should be here any day now.
I guess the moral of this story is when purchasing a computer there are several things you need to make sure of, one is that you have anti-virus software at all times. Don't even try to run your computer for a day without anti-virus, you may regret it.
Also when buying an expensive item even if you won't use it as much as me, get that extended warranty. And try to get the two year warranty, because it will in the long run pay for itself. Because you really never know when something is going to go wrong with your computer or some other item.
So be wish in what you do on your computer, keep that anti-virus up to date and your computer should keep running just fine.
