Use Your Arms
Experts suggest that using your arms in a vigorous movement will burn 5% - 10% more claories. Try pumping your arms whilst walking, use a rowing machine or do ten push ups between every equipment change at the gym.
Work Your Core
Crunches will help to tone your abdomen (your core) & will help keep you heart rate high thus burning more calories. Choose gym machines & exercises that will create resistance or instability as you have to work your core muscles to keep your balance. A gym ball is a good example.
Do Intervals
Alternate your workout with regular periods of intense activity followed by a recovery period. For instance, 40 seconds of intense effort followed by two minutes of recovery will burn 160 more calories over 24 hours than a continuous workout.
Chill Out
Your body will burn more calories trying to keep you warm & maintain a stable temperature. This can add up to 3% to 7% more calories as your body works to warm your skin & the cold air you breathe.
Don't Sit Still
Constant movement such as fidgeting or wriggling could burn about 350 calories a day more than simply sitting still. Next time your stuck in a meeting think about crossing your legs, wiggling your feet & stretching.
