You should always try to get a good quality leather pair of gloves that will last you a long time. Gloves get a hard workout. A pair of good general purpose gardening gloves will be great for what ever task you put them to. Leather gloves don't work very well in your garden after a rain while it is wet and muddy. You'll need to pick out a well fitting cotton lined rubber glove for the purpose of working in the wet slippery mud.

In the early spring its cold out, so you need to protect your hands from the cold while planting your seedlings, which can be pretty tender and delicate. Fingerless gloves work well for this type of task.

Blisters, mud, dirt, thorns, and chemicals are only a few of the things that you need to protect your hands from while gardening. Comfortable fitting gloves are always an important part of your gardening glove selection. Make sure the fingers aren't too long. They'll bend over and make it difficult to grab weeds or most any type of work you try to do. If your gloves are too tight then you can't move your fingers well enough to perform your gardening tasks.
