Based in Oakland, California - the athletics are professional baseball team that was established back in 1901 when they became part of the American League western division. The team is one of the eight original charter franchises and was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which is where the name of "athletics" originates. In 1955 the team moved to Kansas and it wasn't until 1968 when the team moved to Oakland, California.

The Athletics have been known by many names such as: the A's, the elephants and the white elephants. The team ballpark is the Oakland-Alameda county coliseum; the team owner is Lewis Wolff, the manager is Bob Geren and the General Manager is Billy Beane.

Accomplishments and important moments:

There are very few teams that come close to having the number of accomplishments the Oakland athletics have had, to start we can mention that they earned a wildcard Berth in 2001, they have earned an impressive 14 west division titles that span from 1971 all the way to 2006, they have also earned 15 American League pennants in years spanning from 1902 all the way to 1990.

And last but not least, to top this impressive number of accomplishments they have also had nine successful participations in the world series in the years of 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989.
