1. Emphasize the benefits. Let your recipient know that they can benefit from your product or service. Highlight the advantages of buying from you. What difference can you offer? How will your product or service provide the solution to their problem?
2. Make an offer that they can't resist. What better way to encourage a prospective customer to make a purchase than an attractive offer? For instance, consumers love discounts and freebies and if your postcard doubles as a discount coupon, you can be sure of a positive response.
3. Encourage people to act now! One way to urge prospects to take immediate action is by setting a deadline. For instance, you can set an expiration date for an attractive promo. This way, your prospects would be prompted to grab your offer right away and not forget about it.
4. Don't clutter your postcard. There should be enough white spaces or blank spaces on your postcard so customers can clearly understand your message. Don't try to fill your card with too many information about your product or service. Don't overdo the design or use an image that can distract your reader's attention from the message.
5. Use call-to-action words. Call-to-action words like ?buy now?, ?order now?, ?call today? tell the recipient exactly what to do after reading the postcard. Call-to-action words can really make the difference on whether you recipient would respond to your message or not.
6. Grab attention! The secret to grabbing people's attention is using a catchy and meaningful headline. Take time in condensing your message in a short, precise, easy-to-understand, and captivating headline. Remember, you only have a few seconds to convince your reader to give your postcard more attention. A poor headline can instantly send your postcard in the trash.
7. Proofread before sending. Never print your postcards without proofreading. You can't afford to send a postcard with typos, missing words, or wrong grammar. Even the smallest mistake can send a negative impression to your reader.
Remember, these postcards would represent your company. If you're the one who put it together, it's a good idea to have someone else proofread it for you. Sometimes, we can't see our own mistakes while other people can easily point them out.
8. Track results and follow up. The result of postcard marketing is easier to track than other advertising methods. When people makes a purchase from your online shop using the code on your postcard, or when they personally bring the postcard to your store to avail of the discount, you can easily count the actual responses or sales from your campaign.
Nevertheless, if you don't receive the response you expected, don't be frustrated. The success of postcard advertising can't be achieved with just one attempt. Follow up your campaign by sending a new batch of postcards to the same recipients.
