Weymouth is an historic seaside town with numerous sites of interest and one of the best is the Brewery Days and Timewalk Museum, which is a superb place to visit if you adore your history, although it is also a great experience for all the family. This award-winning attraction transports you to Portland and Weymouth's past spanning roughly six hundred years and you will sense the sights, sound and smells all through the whole trip which make this an truly enjoyable experience.

First of all you go in the brewery archivist's office and be sure you look for the hands of the old clock as they begin turning backwards, taking you back to the time of the 14th century when the area was in the grasp of the Black Death. There are many accurate life-size scenes each of which demonstrate the history of the district throughout the ages. These include the town's preparations for the imminent coming of the Spanish Armada in 1588, and in Hope Square there is an iron chest on exhibition which is believed to have been retrieved from the San Salvador, a Portuguese flagship of the Armada.

There is also the Victorian brewhouse where you will find the Brewery Days attraction which grants you an insight into the brewing history of Hope Square stemming from 1821 right up to to the present day. To keep up with up to date attractions there is an interactive gallery with audio and visual presentation which tells you tale of the brewery's past as well as the process of producing the beer. Ultimately you arrive at the Drum & Dancer which is a Victorian bar where you get to try one of a choice of exceptional ales which are brewed on site by The Quay Brewery.

If beer is not for you then you can always leisurely walk around the twenty or so shops that are enclosed in the brewery building. These shops specialize in a range of unique goods and will be of interest to many. For those who would think of visiting the Brewers Quay and Timewalk Museum the opening hours are 10.00am - 5.30pm seven days a week all year round.
