Limotek.co.uk
Croatia is one of the tourist destinations in Europe where you can enjoy a restful holiday of the cool climate, rugged mountains and other attractions. This is a central European country at the crossroads between the Pannonian Plain, Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital city is Zagred and has a population of about 4 million people where the official language is Croatian. Croatia has a varied climate, with continental conditions in the north and Mediterranean. During summer, it is advisable to wear light clothes, medium weights for winter with heavier for inland areas.
Ever tasted Croatian cuisine? There is an influence of Hungarian, Italian and Australian influence in her food with meat stew and goulashes dominating the menu in the hinterland. Some of the dishes served in the restaurants includes Pr'ut i pa'ki sir (air-dried ham similar to Italian prosciutto and sheep's cheese from the island of Pag); platters are served as an appetiser,.Salata od hobotnice (octopus salad) made from octopus, potato, onion, chopped parsely, olive oil and lemon juice,Crni ri'ot (black risotto) made from cuttlefish black ink,Gula? (goulash), similar to the Hungarian version from where it originated and Janjetina (roast lamb) popular in inland regions where its not unusual to see whole lamb roasting on a spit in roadside eateries.
The nightlife is more concentrated in the capital city Zagred, which buzzes with everything from swanky cocktail bars to alternative cultural clubs patronised by students. Venues include beach bars, pavement cafes, style bars and glitzy night clubs. Some of the most up market clubs are in Dubrovnik and hit the market as they attract both foreign and local celebrities. Most of the bars and clubs are licensed to work for 24 hours especially during summer. How about booking a hotel in Croatia? There are 4 star hotels available along the coast and 5 star in the inland which are found in Zagred and in up market coastal resorts like Dubrovnik and Hvar town. You can also book for private accommodation which is widely available and arranged through local tourist agencies. Private youth hostels include the Croatian Youth Hostel Association which runs IYHA-affiliated hostels in Zagreb, Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Veli Lo?inj, and Punat on the island of Krk.
This is a country that has recorded a great number of tourists who visit various places. Visit the Museum of art and crafts and Mimara Museum which exhibits a rich collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics from abroad. Another attended event is cycling a top a cycling spot in Mljet National Park located on the green and unspoiled island of Mljet. The park boasts dense forests, two interconnected saltwater lakes and in the centre of the larger lake, the exquisite St Mary's Island and Benedictine Monastery. Other tourists attend the summer festival on mid July to August which features open air evening performances. Others like the golden Cape beach and Kornati National park are the most visited places in Croatia. You can also visit Zagrebs monument and museum, visit the historic monuments of Gornji Grad, the Cathedral of St Mark's Church (noted for its tiled roof) and the Sabor (Croatian parliament).
