Why Are You Not Converting Your Visitors?
Mercedes Aspland
Many websites are set up really well to get to the top of the search engines and to generate traffic. This is great but you need to be able to convert your traffic otherwise it is completely pointless. This article will look at the content on websites and why it fails to convert visitors into sales.
1. Failure to Connect
One of the biggest problems with content is that it fails to connect with the visitor. This seems strange but have you thought about who you are trying to sell to? If not then you could be completely off the mark.
For example if you are selling knitting supplies you will need completely different copy to if you are selling computer games. What is the reason for this? Well the main reason is that the types of people that will be buying knitting supplies are likely to be female and aged between 40 and 60. However the types of people that will be buying computer games are likely to be male and under 25. It is clear that the language these groups will use will be completely different so you need to write for them.
Before you write your content you should properly profile your potential audience. You should consider their age, gender and location initially. However you should not stop here you should also ask yourself who are they? What are their main problems? How do they discuss their problems? Where to they go out? What sort of language do they use?
Going through these questions will give you an idea of how to give them what they want and so how you need to write the content for your website. If you connect with your visitors through your content the chance is you will get more sales and make more money.
2. No Compelling Offer
Many website owners think it is just a matter of showing their product or service and the price and people will buy. Unfortunately in many cases this is not the situation. You need to give people a reason to buy. This means you need to make it clear why you are the best. What makes you different from your competitors if you are a service? What incentives do you offer?
You will be surprised but many people only buy because of a particular incentive or offer. Do you have a discounted price for a limited time only? If this is the case make sure your visitors know this.
It is important that people know the value of buying your product or service. If they think they are getting something they would not somewhere else then you are more likely to get sales and make more money.
3. Give people Reasons
Do people know why they should by from you? What makes you special? If people don't know this then they might go with someone else who is more in their face. Focus on the why and people will be more likely to buy from you.
The above are just a few things that you need to consider when writing your content and they cannot be ignored. When you write your content remember to get someone to review it and find out the affect it has on them. This will help you to know you are going in the right direction and remember don't be afraid to rewrite it several times to get it right.
