Hypnosis Memory Improvement: Concentration, Retention, Recall
Alan B. Densky, Ch
I'd like you to meditate on this for a brief moment. As you sit there and read this expose, a stream of information is coming in through your eyes. But you are also absorbing different sounds, experiencing bodily feelings like the pressure of the seat against your buttocks and back, the feeling of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of information via your nose in the form of aromas. And of course, you're receiving data in the form of the mixture of tastes on your lips.
And what about the emotional thoughts that you are currently experiencing? That is also data that you're presently processing. We live in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost everything and anything that a person may ever want to know is only a few clicks of a mouse away.
I recently read an article that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful environment, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is occurring sixty seconds out of each minute, and sixty minutes out of each hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.
And that's a big part of the problem. We are all being subjected to "information overload." And that makes it very difficult to remember all of the data that we want to remember or need to remember.
Very often, as we are reading, we realize that our eyes have been traversing the information on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we realize that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious memory of what we have just read. That is because our mind has been somewhere else thinking about a problem, or working out a project.
Today it's widespread to hear even young people say things like, "I'm having a senior moment." No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the work force, or a retired senior, I'm sure that you understand what I'm talking about. In our frantic world it is quite often very difficult to focus your concentration.
SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS IS YOUR PROBLEM?
A. Your mind begins to roam as you study, and then all of a sudden you appreciate that you do not have the slightest idea what you have read.
B. When you are in a social situation and new acquaintances are introduced to you, you find that you forget their names as quickly as you hear them.
C. You remember that you have a job to do in another room; however, as soon as you start walking in the direction of the other room you totally forget what that task is.
D. You can stay alert and understand new information. But when you take a test, "Test Anxiety" overcomes you and triggers a mental block, and you are unable to call to mind the answers to the questions on the exam that you actually know.
The principal cause of a person's incapacity to focus their concentration is tension. And the principal cause of a mental block to recall is also tension. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.
Today, hypnosis and memory enhancement has become a hot topic. That is to some extent because hypnotherapy is a brilliant instrument for causing a relaxed state. In fact, the very essence of the hypnotic state is relaxation. And as the mind becomes tranquil, the facility to stay focused increases. Similarly, a calm mind enhances the capability to retain information, and recollect it when it is needed.
Hypnosis memory enhancement is a wonderful modality for getting rid of test anxiety. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a person with a positive expectation of relaxation, self-reliance, and achievement while taking examinations.
Students can take a course on how to apply self-hypnosis easily and economically in the privacy of their own home by purchasing hypnotic CD's. It's easy to find more information on hypnosis to enhance memory and recall in the Hypnosis Research Library located on my website.
