Commenting on the survey, eGenie.co.uk spokesman Stefan Troester said that withthe cost of a new boiler equating to around ?1,000, consumers would be wise toensure they are protected.
"We have more requests for broken-down boilers to be fixed because theyhaven't been looked after properly than for anything else," he said.
The research found that German attitudes towards maintenance were generally better than their British counterparts.
Of course, UKhomeowners could protect themselves by covering their boiler with a warranty.
