I'm sure you have heard of CD Duplication services, but I'm thinking you don't really know too much about it. I'm referring to the process of making copies of discs with different types of media. Simply speaking, CD Duplication is a process by which one transfers information from a source, or a master copy, to a large number of recordable digital discs. CD duplication is very different than replication, but the process is conceptually similar.
CD replication and or DVD replication is done typically in industrial settings, and in large scales. The source disc is usually checked for any problems and then the process starts. Many companies don't check the source disc for problems, and that could end up costing them and their customers thousands of dollars, so it's a necessary step. Once that is complete, the data is transferred from the master copy into the master mold, also known as glass master, which then used for the replication. The glass master is created using a laser beam that creates pits and/or grooves with specific spacing and lengths.
The CD duplication or DVD replication specialist will then use the glass master to create a stamper by pressing it against a layer made of nickel. Once the grooves are copied into the stamper they become part of the disc. After this there are several more technical steps that lead us to the final step in this process. This consists of taking two layers of the polycarbonate discs and bonding them together.
Many businesses find benefits from having this done, but it's important to have accuracy when performing CD duplication and/or DVD replication. Quality and quantity need to be used side by side ? the bigger the order the lower the price.
