Whether you are a parent or not, you must admit that it has to be hard to look into those hopeful little eyes and tell them no. It is a hard thing to do but it has to be done. Many of these small children are excited about the idea of having a dog as they do not recognize the responsibilities that come along with them.

The child only sees potential for a new, furry best friend in the near future. He or she does not realize all that must go into bringing up this little ball of fuzz and unconditional love. All he sees is somebody to play with and to receive big wet kisses from. You, the parent, will have to do all the training and cleaning up after mess-making.

Assuming things would turn out in favor of the puppy, you would indeed care for him. Or he could end up handed off to a shelter or to the side of the road.

Please make sure you are ready for a puppy before buying one. Because so many of them have to suffer because parents gave in to those big round eyes begging you for a puppy.

Be sure everybody in the family knows that the dog belongs to everybody. Set out planned roles for each person in your family for the upbringing and care of the dog.

If you aren't sure of all the above instruction, then do not give in to your child's sweet little desire.
