The Top 5 Ibiza Sights
Gary Marshall
There is much more to Ibiza than Café del Mar, and Manumission. There are plenty of cultural sights, historical attractions, and adventure sports to participate in. You can easily while away a week traveling around the island to some of the 50 beaches! So if you can tear yourself away from your summer’s novel then here are some sightseeing options:
1.Take a tour of the island on the scenic tour train departing Santa Eulalia, and San Antonio three times daily. The tour lasts two hours, and is a great way to cool off as well as see Ibiza Island. The motorised train stops off a church, museum, bar, a few shops, and several view points where you can snap away with your digital camera. It is a good value for money tour, and the whole family is guaranteed to enjoy themselves.
2.There are plenty of adventure sports to choose from in Ibiza and I would certainly do one of them on my holiday there, so why not try; bungee jumping, abseiling, mountain bike riding, horse riding, deep sea fishing, and scuba diving. There is no better place to take your Padi course than in Ibiza as the marine life is varied and plentiful and you will hopefully see star fish, sting rays, brightly coloured coral, and ship wrecks.
3.Visit some of the cultural sights on your holiday in Ibiza by stopping off at one or two of the islands many art galleries and museums. There are plenty to choose from including the Archaeology Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Van der Voort Art Gallery, the Es Moli Art Gallery, and the House Art Gallery. The majority are free to get into and are open from 10.00-18.00 and closed for siesta (although do check this before you set off).
4.Cool off at one of the better water parks in Spain, situated at the hip Playa den Bossa resort the Aguamar Water Park is next to the Space Nightclub, close to the beach and it is open from June till to October. There are around 14 slides of various sizes, swimming pools, restaurants, and fast food cafes, sun lounging areas to relax, lockers, and shaded picnic areas.
5.Browse the various markets of Ibiza Island, including the Punta Arabi Hippy market in Es Cana open weekly on a Wednesday selling leather goods, ornaments, jewelry. Or the Las Dalias market San Carlos, open every Saturday selling similar products. Both are open from late morning to early evening and are great place to pick up souvenirs.
