Among the occult arts, numerology is probably the easiest to use and understand. A birth date and full name are all that is needed to see the powers and secrets that all of the numbers hold. There are only eleven numbers used in a numerology chart: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and 22. Any larger numbers that may occur in a birth date are reduced. For example, if your birthday was on the 23 it would be reduced to 2 + 3 or 5. Do not reduce the numbers 11 and 22 as they are considered master numbers. Each number is a representation of a unique characteristic or expression.
The first calculation to make for a numerological chart is the birth date. The date needs to be written out in the mm/dd/yyyy format. For example if you were born on January 23rd of 1980 it would be 01/23/1980. If you add the numbers of the birth date together you will have the Lifepath Number. In the example given, it would be 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 or 24- which then reduces to 2 + 4 or 6. The Lifepath Number is a representation of who you were when you were born and how those ingrained traits will take you through life. Remember not to reduce the numbers 11 or 22 as they are the master numbers and a valid result to have.
The full birth name (whatever is on your birth certificate, including any middle names) is also an important calculation for a numerological chart. There is a number assigned to different letters in the alphabet. The letters A, J, and S are represented by 1. B, K, and T are the number 2. C, L, and U are the number 3. D, M, and V are the number 4. E, N, and W are the number 5. F, O, and X are the number 6. G, P, and Y are the number 7. H, Q, and Z are the number 8. I and R are the number 9. Adding together the number representations of your name will result in the Destiny Number. It plots out a person's destiny or all of the things they need to accomplish before they die. It is like a cosmic to do list (but a little less specific).
Take the name John Doe Smith as an example. It is easier add up each piece of the name separately and then add the results together. The first name would be 1 + 6 + 8 + 5 or 20, which reduces to 2. The middle name would be 4 + 6 + 5 or 15, which reduces to 6. The last name would be 1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 or 24, which reduces to 6. Add together those reductions and you have 2 + 6 + 6 or 14, which reduces to 5. John Doe Smith's Destiny Number would be 5. Remember not to reduce the numbers 11 or 22 as they are the master numbers and a valid result to have.
