The fans of Macintosh have some peculiarities: they might be crazy at every step or action of Apple, but when Apple does not correspond with their requirements, they would not conceal what they think. It also happened when the new edition Mac OS X issued: you can see the heat discussion about recently issued Leopard from the forum of Apple operating system

We have spend much time on Leopard, deeply excavating its internalities, paying close attention to its change, update and modification; therefore, we prepare to evaluate it. Leopard is really excellent, and it is also finer for coding. However, it is not perfect; naturally, no operating system is perfect.

Therefore, we would point out some shortages or some places without shortages but could be made better in our view when Apple issued Leopard. Of course, it is unfair not to mention some really excellent places that Apple has produced, so we will evaluate it together.

In order to demonstrate better, we will quote some pictures of Leopard to explain.

1、Time Machine

Time Machine is one of the best applications of Leopard, but it does not mean it is perfect. Actually, when you use first option pane of the system to set it for the first time, you will feel a little confused.

In default circumstance, time machine could backup all the things of your computer, and it even can intelligently make out the mobile hard disk used as backup disk, and doesn't copy the interior files.

Up to now, it is quite good, but if the size of your computer data is larger than your backup driving capacity, how to do that? This means you shall choose something that the time machine needn't backup; at that time, there happens some uncertain factors.

If you want to exclude some files, you shall click ?+? button in unneeded backup list to add the items. This is a reversed meaning, as your clicking ?add? actually is to exclude. Using ?+? button to add the sub-area, folders or documents you want to save, or using ?-? button to delete the items in the backup list will cost your more time to consider.

It is no doubt that Apple wants to make Time Machines backup all the things, that is the reason why it uses such way to set. Please make sure that you have brought enough big hard-disk, so that you could not consider that problem.

2、Dock

Before Apple issued the finally edition Leopard, many people complained about the Dock in the pre-issued edition: especially when it be placed at the left or right on the screen.

When using widescreen display, it is natural that Dock runs on the top of the screen as it doesn't affect other places. Why the window shall be smaller than original needed size, and only when the Dock running at the bottom, it becomes normal? Perhaps putting the Dock at the bottom of the screen is the due place that Apple believes.

As a result, at least before the issue of Leopard final edition, the Dock should be a display stand, but when its place is on the left or right side, it seems to be anything but not display stand. The awkward solution in the final issued edition from Apple is: when it is vertically placed, it is Dock.

On the side, it is not glass-styled display stand, but a dark glazed and translucent strip with white aureole. Some people dislike this display, but others not. But one of main parts in User Interface could be changed according to the different places, it is very wonderful. It is more likely to add something in the whole.
