English (or rather, writing in general, no matter which language you've learned) is a very important part of the learning process and should never be skipped over. Writing should be a secondary focus to anyone's career if the person wants to get anywhere in life. Though, many people struggle with it. People find writing to be very difficult and end up waiting until the last minute to write their essays for homework assignments. There is a very simple reason why.

Writing, like just about everything else, requires practice. Just like the way a guitarist picks up and plays his guitar every single day, you'll need to write every single day. Now, I don't mean you have to sit at your desk for six hours after work every day. You just need to make a committed amount of time each and every day and follow it no matter what. Take fifteen minutes after dinner to write about anything that comes to your mind. You don't need to write a story or anything fictional. It's just the actual act of writing for a set amount of time every day that will get your brain thinking in writing mode. After a few months of working on it, you'll feel weird when you miss getting a chance to write.

A guitarist doesn't always just practice playing his own guitar, either. He listens to other people's guitar playing. And usually, even listens to other types of instruments and music. The human mind needs input before it can give output; it needs inspiration. Writing is the exact same way. Not only do you have to write every day. You have to read quite often, too. And not just things you're interested in. You need to read all sorts of things. Fiction, non-fiction, biographies, mysteries, drama, romance, poetry. The more you read, the more you'll be inspired to write on your own.

Lastly, you should invest in some actual paper and a pen or pencil. The physical act of moving your hand on paper involves using your brain in a way that typing on a computer cannot. So what are you waiting for? Go out and start writing!
