Ten Wonderful Must-Visit Cities In Columbia
Jonathan Williams
Columbia is a lucky country in the South Americas that has the North Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea as its coastlines. Because of this, it has become a favorite country for sun worshippers and nature lovers to visit. But beaches alone are not what Columbia has in store for its visitors, for here are ten cities that should be visited by the tourist.
1.) Bogota
As the capital city of Columbia, it is home to about eight million individuals and home to a lot of wonderful places to visit as well. Among them are the Gold Museum El Museo del Oro, which houses gold artifacts, and the Donacion Botero, which houses paintings of Botero as well as Picasso, Monet and other famous artists. You can also visit the Casa de Moneda here, which houses a fabulous collection of coins.
2.) Baranquilla
Although a small city, Baranquilla has a lot to offer its visitors especially in terms of party hotspots. Its nightlife is truly an experience to any traveler, so be ready to visit lots of bars here as well as restaurants. As a party place, the best way to visit this little city is where there is a festival wherein you can dance the night away.
3.) Cartagena
This famous city is now listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the historical and magical cities of the world. What you can see here are a lot of old forts and the walled city. You will see here also a magnificent fortress called Castillo de San Felipe, and museums, churches, and historic old towns can also be found here for you to explore and enjoy.
4.) Pereira
This city has lots to offer visitors. Here, you can visit picturesque parks like the Olaya Herrera as well as the El Cedral. You can also stroll along the Plaza Bolivar as well as Ciudad Victoria, or for more activities, you can try its ice skating rink as well as take nature walks.
5.) Manizales
In Manizales, you should visit their university city. You must also visit their park called Los Colonializadores where you can take a lovely stroll in. Also, they have the Los Yarumos Ecopark for the nature lovers, which is popular for hiking and nature walks.
6.) Medellin
Here, you should visit the Pueblito Paisa, an Antioquian village that was restored. One should also visit the Museo de Antioquia for more works of Botero. For a lovely relaxing walk in the park, you have The Boston Park.
7.) Popayan
This city is an architectural wonder as there are lots of buildings highly influenced by the Spanish colonial era. Because of this, there are beautiful churches to see here. To enjoy fully its culture, visit Popayan during the Semana Santa to experience firsthand their Easter celebration.
8.) Santa Marta
Santa Marta is also a favorite place for visitors to see and explore. Here, you will be given a wonderful view of the Caribbean Sea. If you love the beach, then this is the place for you as they offer scuba diving as well as snorkeling to those who want to enjoy marine creatures at their most natural habitat.
9.) Leticia
In Leticia, you can take an Anaconda Tour where you will be touring around the Amazon River. You will also get to see many native floras and faunas as you are touring the river. You can also visit a lot of native tribes in their villages.
10.) Isla Gorgona
This is not a city but an island that used to be a prison. Now, it was converted into a national park and is a famous tourist destination also. This is also a wonderful location to do some serious scuba diving and see sea turtles as well as some sharks.
