Car Body And Paint
Mira Williams
However, repainting is not always the answer in a majority of cases. In fact, repainting will cost you a lot more. You will need to pay for the new paint and also the painting charges. In case even if only a small area of your car surface is affected, you might have to pay for a full color package too; little point in wasting money this way when you have another good option.
Overspray can be removed from the car body paint even without repainting it. There are many different processes that can remove overspray safely without damaging the car paint. More or less, most overspray removal techniques have the following basic methodology-
Protecting the Car Paint
There is no point in scraping off the overspray along with the car paint underneath. That defeats the whole purpose. So the basic aim is to completely preserve the car paint beneath the overspray by all means. This is achieved by means of a special lubricant. The lubricant is applied over the area of the overspray. The lubricant acts as a wall that comes in between the overspray and the car paint, so when you try to take off the overspray the car paint remains unaffected.
Taking off the Overspray
Once the car paint is protected using the lubricant, the overspray can now be taken off using special tools, like the prep bar. Using this, the overspray is slowly taken off the car paint by gentle scraping. This particular step is important as it needs to be done carefully to avoid damage to the underlying car paint. Once the overspray is removed the job is done.
Re-polishing and Waxing
When the overspray is removed the car paint must again be polished so that the car paint is resealed on its surface. After re-sealing, any good quality car wax can be used to wax the car.
Although the above processes appear quite easy, the details differ for different types of overspray, and also according to the size of damage. You might want to try this by yourself, but you are bound to end up losing more money if the job is not done in a professional manner. The best bet is to hire an expert overspray removal dealer that will do the work for you.
