Is it really possible to get paid for blogging or writing? It's been a long time I've met up with my friend's father and I've had fond memories of fishing with him when we were still in school, and then sweet memories of hanging out drinking together when we were slightly more legal. Recently, we met up again and he sprung a surprise on me by telling me that he was being paid to blog. Not that it's not possible to be paid writing but for someone his age and his knowledge of technology - it might as well have been.
The point is this. Internet has dramatically changed the world around us so much that many are dependent on them for many of their daily tasks. Paid blogging is just a way of making money using the internet as a vehicle and it's not much different from paid writing jobs. If you're unfamiliar with the word, here's what it essentially means. A company that wishes to maintain or keep active a blog but have no time to update the blog or website with articles or blog entries would hire someone to blog on his or her behalf. This is what paid blogging is all about - the hired writer's job is to go in, research about the industry, find interesting things to write about and then update the blog on a regular basis.
Paid blogging is not a lucrative industry if you look at it singularly. We encourage everyone to take a serious look at the potential of this new age vocation. Practically every individual or company has their own website or blog these days. Companies that maintain their own blogs have one thing and only one thing in mind - to bring in the traffic, connect with users of their products, help find new customers, reach new boundaries...bringing in more sales. Most of these companies take their blogs very seriously and would like to have it updated with new information every other day, if not everyday. Limitations relating to skills and number of staff put a damper on their goals and that is where bloggers come in with paid blogging services.
Companies would hire writers who has the initiative, skills, expertise, flexibility and time to spend time to write blog entries and update these blogs. Payment for paid blogging would depend, most of the time, on the number of blog posts they have provided in the week or month. The arrangements vary but the job remains the same. Writing jobs like these have never existed before and it is, indeed, a blessing for those of us who have a penchant for writing.
Paid writing jobs have given new hope to stay-at-home, single or work-at-home mothers too. In fact, some diabled or retirees turn to writing so that they can earn a decent income from their computer. It's not, sometimes, about the money but paid blogging gives them confidence; may people earn a decent income by blogging for many companies. So, how far you want to take the paid writing job depends on the individual. But the potential remains and it is for us to tap into and take it as far and wide as we want to.
So, yes, it is possible to get paid for blogging and writing.
