The developers do hire testers to play the games in house, if you were interested in this role you would need some programming skills. You send your report back to them, you get paid for your time and get to keep the game!

Building up experience in this way is useful if you would like to work for a major software house, you can do it at home in your spare time and once you become established you can do it full time.
