Today's Erectile Dysfunction Treatment In U.K.
Michale John
ED is defined as the consistent inability to attain and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Approximately 2.3 million men in the UK are affected by ED. Experts believe that 80 percent of ED cases are related to a physical or medical condition, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and prostate cancer treatment, while 10 percent are due to psychological causes.
Men undergoing surgery on their bladder or to remove a tumor in their prostate frequently suffer damage to a crucial nerve, which affects their ability to produce an erection. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and there are nearly 32,000 new cases in the UK each year. In this situation one should go for the approved dugs like Cialis as they use to simulate nerves within the place where the injury is.
Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) is probably the most common prescription medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It's the first oral medicine available that's been proven to improve erections in most men with impotence. Viagra doesn't improve erections in normal men, only in those with difficulty in achieving or maintaining erections sufficient for sexual intercourse due to a true medical problem. It is not an aphrodisiac and will not increase desire.
The Sexual Dysfunction Association estimates that one in 10 men in the UK - around 2.3million - have recurring problems with their ability to get an erection at some point in their lives. A quarter of these are caused by psychological conditions, but around 75 per cent are due to a variety of physical causes including cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Other researchers are looking for erectile dysfunction treatment in UK. One study of a treatment called maxi-K gave promising results in initial tests on human patients and has now moved into a more extensive clinical trial. The treatment includes a replacement for a defective gene in muscle cells. Another trial on rats is investigating gene therapy to cure erectile dysfunction brought on by diabetes.
