Septic Smells After The Floods
Platypus
When you have been flooded and had to leave your home it is very traumatic as a lady from Gippsland, Victoria said.
It was bad enough having her house flooded, her chooks drowned and she lost stock, but to eventually get back into a ruined house with everything wet and then to try to do washing and get rid of the dank smell was terrible. To add to her woes her Septic had to be pumped out and the surrounding smell just got worse.
The problem was that everything backed up into the house - every drain, every toilet, even the laundry sink. Also the Septic tank wasn't working efficiently as there was not enough bacteria to restart the system.
A water soluble sachet of Flush-It(R) was dissolved in warm water and tipped down every outlet i.e. shower, basin, kitchen sink laundry trough last thing at night and another into all the toilets and flushed through. Next morning every outlet was flushed and hey presto - no smell.
Maintenance of one tea bag size water soluble sachet once a month dropped into the furthest toilet from the septic tank each month and flushed will keep that system working efficiently. Safe for the environment, easy to use and easy on your pocket.
A great result all round. Share this story with any friends who have been flooded. It could make their lives a whole lot sweeter!
