Visiting Virginia
Katalin98 Cseke98
Before you start reading, there is a condition that you must fulfill; not that you need to be a beefeater but you need to be a meat-snob! With that much of honesty in you, Chima shall fly open its gates for you to so you can devour to your heart's content!
The one in Virginia, Va is Chima's second outlet, the first one being in Florida. It's the corporate area next to Tyson's Corner where Chima is located ? you may park in front of the restaurant and tip the valet or inside the parking space at Tyson's Corner. To fluff your appetite, Chima has put up the sign on a building with no entrances; walking to the other side around the corner shall reveal an orange awning. Welcome to an insatiable meat-thirst!
Sleek, stylish but with a dark aura ? Chima at Vienna, VA has every ingredient to set the medieval ambience when meat was considered the most primary of all food. The dining area is large, quite opposite to the bill a person usually pays here. It also does comprise a bar and the most worthwhile nightspot in the town.
If going whole hog has a visual interpretation, then this must be the place. Chima is all about being beefed-up (pun intended), waving the knives and the forks (much like fighting the battles in an imaginary Plaza de Toros) and guzzling by gallons. However, it's better to avoid the place if children are around; teens shall enjoy the place all the more.
To start with, it's the buffet of salads and entremets that you should target, especially the Feijoada (re-fried black beans with pork that's slow-cooked over hours and topped with a hot sauce). It really goes down well with Caipirinha ? the rum on the rocks along with crushed lime and cane sugar ? a drink favorite to the residents of Virginia.
If you love beef, then you must also know that Brazilian and American beef are poles apart in taste. But the most astonishing part is Chima retains the Brazilian cuts and the taste without getting it over-flavored, whiskey-burnt or over-marinated. In a word, it's natural and simple. For those with a restriction on beef, there is chicken and sausage to have your fill. But since there is no menu, it is by flipping the coin on the table you shall have to order for the various cuts; turn the ?no? side up, and the endless train of grilled delights shall stop.
So which ones to go for the most? Strip steaks, flank steaks and bacon-wrapped chicken/pork or both are the best here; if you want to take a break from the meat, the garlic-seasoned mashed-potatoes and cheese-filled bread-balls are going to revive the taste buds. And if price is not a factor, then the house wine is a must!
But what about the desserts? They are there of course, but remember, this place at Vienna, VA is the place for meat! Still, you get the birthday tiramisu (that's free) and a variety of really expensive desserts. However, the vegetarian can afford them easily, since all that he/she needs to spend for a salad meal is $16.90, contrary to the meat eater's $25.
