Report On Hoodia Gordonii
James M Miller
In South Africa, in the Kalahari desert, is the only place that the Hoodia gordonii plant thrives. It takes five years to become mature, and it tricks your brain into thinking that you are full, allowing you to lose weight. Even though this is a brand new concept to many, the San Bushmen of South Africa have been using the Hoodia gordonii plant for centuries in order to stop hunger from causing them problems whenever they had to migrate or take a long hunting trip.
Study
The Hoodia plant was studied by scientists who did extensive research on it. They discovered a molecule that had been unknown before that they called P57. This molecule is what scientists believe is responsible for giving users of the organic material a feeling of fullness. After most of the initial study was done, Phytopharm and Pfizer, two well-known names in the pharmaceutical world, took their turns developing the plant in order to create it into one of the worlds most powerful appetite suppressants.
Dr. Richard Dixey can explain how the molecule, known as P57, works.
"There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar. When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells start firing and now you are full. What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose. It goes to the mid-brain and actually makes those nerve cells fire as if you were full. But you have not eaten, nor do you want to."
It was Dr. Richard Dixy who organized the animal trials for the Hoodia testing, and discovered that the science rats, who generally eat themselves sick, no longer had the desire to eat.
There were also human trials, when a group of people who were morbidly obese were placed in a situation where they could only watch television, eat, and read papers. In the study, half were given a placebo and the other half were given the Hoodia. After fifteen days, they discovered that those who had taken the Hoodia were eating 1,000 calories a day less.
Hoodia has been declared by all to be an amazing weight loss tool. It helps even the most obese of people to lose weight, even if they have tried everything else with no success. Hoodia is truly the future of weight loss.
